I didn't choose one. My choice would have been somewhere between "Yes. Cull the week. Wintermute's judgment is absolute." and "Yes. There should be a standardized test when an individuals mental capacity is called into question."

I didn't choose the former because I wouldn't want Winter to be solely in charge of deciding who's "stupid." I didn't choose the latter because I don't see the point of a standardized test - they can be cheated easily, and may not be relevant to the type of knowledge useful in our guild.

To answer the original question ("Should stupidity be a viable basis for termination of membership in Umbrella?") my answer is yes. It's a legitimate basis, but the final decision should be made by the Board of Directors with a majority vote. Sadly, that wasn't a choice in the poll.

It is not a choice because that allows for a mob mentality and favoritism. Things we should strive to prevent IMO.

Wintermute's judgment is absolute.

No offense meant Winter, but change Wintermute to "The Board of Directors" and that's absolutely what I'm picking. And what's the point of an officer corp with their own forum section if they aren't working as a group to make decisions for the guild?

Lacking that option, I'm picking the top one anyways, because yeah, stupid people suck. Depends on how you choose to define stupid though, and in the case of online communities, one person's objective opinion may not be the same as the majority of the community. Then again, a small sampling of the community's opinion may not be the same, but at least it's slightly less inclined to be questioned by anyone.

I sort glass, it's what I do, don't throw me away...

I've thought of a checks and balance way of culling the herd. I think it may actually work.

Dervin makes the decision in any way he sees fit and Winter has Veto Power.

It would go something like this....

Dervin: "Heldunder your to fuckin gay, emo, and stupid for this guild, Get the Fuck out you faggot Fuck."

Wintermute: "Dervin I and Everyone Else Agree but I'm going to keep him just a little longer."

See, true checks and balances in action.

I voted " No we should be considerate of each other". Just because someone is considered"stupid" by the board of directors (an extremely subjective statement), does not mean they aren't a good WAR player or aren't fun to play with.

For the record. I make most of the decisions. By most, I mean nearly all. I do accept input from all sources. Especially if it is backed up with reason.

Carebear.

I voted to make a standardized test for mental capacity. We could introduce certain scenarios, like a 3v3 and have multiple choice on what to do.
Example:

What should you do in Tor Anroc?

A. Get the Objective and hold it.
B. Punt into lava.
C. Kill People.
D. Protect the Objective Holders, and Kill the opposing team's Holder.

Something along those lines... maybe a little more specific.

Weak is spelled wrong in the vote choices. Just thought I'd throw that ironic situation out there.

There's two situations to consider here.
1. The person is actually just an idiot in person, but knows how to play the game.
2. The person sucks ass at the game and does moronic shit that gets us killed.

So which are we talking about? Personal stupidity out of game? Or stupidity in game? Or a combination of both?

I say we get rid of the people that fall under both categories. There are plenty of people we can replace them with that are intelligent both in game and out. Purge the weak imo.

Wintermute should have absolute power because nobody else that I have seen really has the balls to gkick the bottom of the barrel.

I chose: No. I don't think we should have to take some kind of test to defend out intellect and judgment.

If it was up to me, we would already have a much thinner flock. That being said there is bias here, and it will stay that way because friends are friends. Getting that out of the way, I could give a fuck if your IQ is 60 or 120 as long as people can contribute to domination in PvP. If you suck in PvP, wrong fucking guild GTFO.

Another thing that needs to be said, I like you winter but as bright as you are, your hot temper clouds your vision. If anybody is going to make these decisions on the fly, it should be somebody that can keep their cool, and make the judgment based on what's best for the guild.
Most victories come from instantly exploiting your enemy's stupid mistakes, and not from any particular brilliance in your own plan.

Truly an excellent point. Your honest assessment is much appreciated.

Yes. As I understood it...

Not being any good means a port to Parasol. Ie if it's someone who gets along with us well, or a friend since childhood w/e, but the person keyboard turns and mouseclicks all their abilities - that's a parasol player.

If a guy just never shuts up, and will open his mouth and emabarass all of us, that should be a booting even if s/he is good.

Does this mean you're gonna come back and play with us now Winter?
