I think I got it.

They are scientists (just regular geeks) not software/computer geeks apparently they should have hired/paid someone better.
How do you think they get that "wealth of understanding"? Expieriments, like the one they are doing now. |

Clearly to the first and to the second. With over eighty-five countries founding them (and numerous laboratories and universities), they should have the best of the best working on the project when it comes to every aspect of it, including their networks and whatnot (I know nothing about computer science myself). This is an amazingly powerful machine, and to NOT have the top security measures taken on it is the utmost of human stupidity. Information is always gained by experiments, but the problem is we've come to such an advanced level in this science field that the only way to experiments is to push our own safety, and that of other people. What would come of these experiments would be a wonderful advancement, but not really necessary. Knowing that gravity is being leaked into another dimension wouldn't improve our quality of living any. Yes, it could lead to other advancements in the future that *could help* our living quality, but the certainty of that is unknown, and therefore not undisputably worth the risk (the risk I'm talking about doesn't necessarly concern the LHC, but other scientific experiments that could pose a threat that are in the planning process). There is a change that the roof over your head may come crashing down at any moment. That doesn't keep people from staying inside. My predictions for LHC. - We will learn several things we never even considered possible before. - Thousands of more questions will be raised. - The scientific method will be used. The earth is far more likely to be destroyed via comet or large asteroid than from the LHC. And if that is the case for the future, it is likely further developments and discoveries by science will be necessary to save the race. |
