An excerpt from I got from Akilleys's father. Hi everyone, We heard from Lesley who heard from Chris that this weekend there was increased violence. Apparently Chris was driving in a caravan when the Humvee in front of him hit an IED and exploded. He said that the blast resulted in a 30 foot crater. We are so sad to say that all on board were killed. It was awful. In another incident I believe the very next day, they were in a caravan and were maneuvering around potholes. He went right, the Humvee behind him went left and hit an IED. Two were killed, one lost a leg and the other was seriously injured. We cannot even imagine......... Please keep the families and friends of the deceased in your prayers. We ask that you hold the injured in your prayers as well, those physically, as well as those emotionally who supported them through this disaster. Our hearts break for the lost and injured ones and their families. The thanks we send to the heavens that our son was a witness and supporter and not among the lost seems inadequate. |

Fuck this senseless and meaningless war! Someone (or in the case a few) should be hanged for putting us in this bull shit unjustified and unprovoked and then having the god damn nerve to lie to us to keep us in it. I hope Akilleys can come back in one peace mentally and physically. |

Man some thing is definitely watching out for him, I'm glad to hear he wasn't in that crater...all I can think about is the Iron Man scene where they get ambushed by the rebels...just hope this thing ends soon and doesn't head into Iran as the media wants us to think.... Come home safe Chris!!!! |

Sorrow aka long, Chris and I should be coming home in late oct. (if everything goes as planned). So much crazy shit has happened this deployment its not even cool. Sorry that i haven't been that active, it has just been rough and my password got all screwed up. I will be as active as possible with the constant power loss, and internet going down as i can be. What you see on the news and whats happening over here are usually very different stories as i'm sure you all can believe (having free media also means that you can put a spin on it if you have enough money). Can't wait to get home to some beer and video games though and chris feels the same. |
